Pumpkin Mints Recipe Description

Looking to freshen your breath? Try this pumpkin mints recipe. They work well. Okay, these mints have no pumpkin flavor. Rather, they are shaped like a pumpkin. So, we call them pumpkin mints anyway! It’s a novel breath freshener.

To freshen up the ghosts and goblins at your Halloween party, put some of these mints on the snacktray.

Yield: Approximately 40 mints

Halloween Trivia: The night before Halloween is called Mischief Night. Also, it is called Cabbage Night, as cabbage is often used in Mischief Night pranks. 

Pumpkin Mints Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 4 teaspoons butter
  • 3 1/2 cups confectionery sugar
  • 2-3 drops oil of peppermint
  • yellow food coloring
  • green food coloring
  • red food coloring

How to Make Pumpkin Mints Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, warm milk and butter, until the butter has melted.
  2. Add in confectionery sugar and oil of peppermint, mixing thoroughly.
  3. Knead with your hands until smooth.
  4. Separate 1/6 of the fondant, and use food coloring to make it green. Mix in well.
  5. Cover green fondant to keep it from drying out.
  6. With the remainder of the fondant, mix in yellow and red food coloring until it is the orange color of pumpkins.
  7. Break off a small piece of orange fondant and roll it into a ball.
  8. Use a toothpick to make small grooves like a pumpkin has.
  9. Roll small pieces of green fondant into a cylinder shape. Cut into short stem-sized pieces.
  10. Press the green stem onto the pumpkin.
  11. Allow to harden.
