How to Make a Pumpkin Cider Bowl Recipe

Description: Pumpkins make excellent serving bowls for cider and a variety of other drinks and recipes. This Pumpkin cider bowl recipe is sure to be a hit.

1 5-10 pound pumpkin

1 gallons apple cider

1-2 Cinnamon Sticks

1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg

Note: If serving cider at a party, you may want to double the recipe, so you can re-fill the Pumpkin Bowl as it empties.

How to Make Pumpkin Cider Bowl:
  1. Heat apple cider with the cinnamon sticks and nutmeg on low heat.
  2. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  3. Cut the lid off the pumpkin and scoop out the insides.
  4. In a large, shallow pan, add 1/2" of water, and place pumpkin upside down.
  5. Cook pumpkin in oven for about 30 minutes, until pulp is just beginning to get soft. Do not cook it too long, or it will not hold the cider.
  6. Remove pumpkin from oven.
  7. Pour cider into the pumpkin bowl.
  8. Serve cider hot. A little of the pulp may get in the mug...that's a good thing!

Important Note:  The first time you make this, we recommend placing the pumpkin bowl inside of a flat, shallow dish or bowl. If you have cooked it too long, the pumpkin can leak or split. The trick is to cook the pumpkin just until it starts to get soft.
