Pumpkins plants produce far more flowers, especially male flowers, than will produce pumpkins. This tasty summer treat is made without the saltines used in other fried pumpkin flower recipes.

Pumpkin Trivia: In 1584 upon seeing it for the first time, a French explorer called them “gros melons. This translates into Latin as “pepon”, or a large melon. It wasn’t until the 17th century that American colonists first referred to them as pumpkins.
Fried Pumpkin Flower Ingredients
Here are the fried pumpkin flowers ingredients:

pumpkin blossoms
1/2 cup
milk
2
eggs
1/2 cup
whole wheat flour (or corn meal)
3-4 tablespoons
olive oil
dash
salt
as desired
fresh cracked black pepper to taste

How to Make Fried Pumpkin Flower Directions
Cut pumpkin blossoms off of the plant.
Take the center out and wash well.
Make a batter of milk, eggs, salt, and pepper.
Dip the blossoms in the batter.
Dip blossoms in the wheat flour (or cornmeal).
Fry until light brown.
Serve hot.
