Do you Know? Just what does "OSCARS" stand for?

Orange, Shiny Cucurbitas Are Really Spectacular!

Best Picture:

  • Atlantis, The Lost Pumpkin Patch An inexperienced young pumpkin grower becomes the key to unraveling an ancient fertilizer formula when he joins a group of growers to find the legendary lost pumpkin patch of Atlantis.
  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Pumpkin- This movie made Pumpkin Milkshakes famous. Any movie that promotes pumpkins gets my vote.
  • Bridget Jones's Diary Bridget Jones is a woman who fights a daily battle of adding weight to her pumpkin, her career and her lackluster love life. (The latter two are readily understandable as Bridget as fanatic pumpkin growers like have no other life.)
  • Don't Say a Word With the weigh-offs but a few days away, pumpkin grower Hugo Growem goes silent, in fear that a single word of hope or optimism may doom his fruit before it gets to the weighoff. (Don't you know the feeling!?!)

Honorable Mention:

  • Moulin Orange Satine is a dazzling star of a popular French nightclub that cater's to society's avid pumpkin growers. She unwittingly draws Christian, a struggling young pumpkin grower into her seduction spell.

Best Action Drama:

  • Thirteen Days For thirteen days in October, 1962, the pumpkin world stood on the brink. The scales were broken at the Giant Pumpkin Weighoff.
  • The Fast and the Furious Jack O'Lantern is a cop who infiltrates gangs of pumpkin growers in order to investigate a series of big pumpkin hijackings.

  • Cinderella II Dreams Come True This time when Cinderella arrives at the weighoff in a pumpkin, which is the world record.

Honorable Mention:

  • Snatch Franky Four Fingers, thief and courier, arrives in London to deliver special pumpkin seeds to the boss.

Best Comedy Film:

  • Big Fat Liar Fishermen have their tales about the big one that "got away". So too do pumpkin growers, especially those who grow giant pumpkins. How many time in this movie do you hear them say, I had a world record pumpkin on the vine but..... Now, who 'ya gonna believe!?!
  • What's The Worst Thing That Could Happen? Caught trying to rob a pumpkin patch, Goliath leaves empty handed when the gardener, ruthless billionaire Big Kahuna returns. Big will stop at nothing to break the world record. Goliath is committed to getting a piece of the genetic strain.
  • Two Can Play That Game Follow the mischief and antics of two neighbors as they envy the pumpkins in each other's garden. The movie lends credence to the old saying "A pumpkin is always oranger on the other side of the patch".

Honorable Mention:

  • Crocodile Pumpkee in Los Angeles

Best Documentary Short Subject:

  • Pumpkin Growers and Orphans: A True Drama a giant pumpkin growers abandons his children in pursuit of the world record.......makes sense.

Best Actor in a Leading Role:

  • Russell Crowe in "A Beautiful Mind" In this movie, Crowe uses his brilliant intelligence to conjure up the perfect fertilizer formula to grow huge pumpkins. This is certainly something to crow about.

Best Actress in a Leading Role:

  • Nicole Kidman in Moulin Orange- Didn't you just love them pumpkins in this movie!?!
  • Renee Zellweger in "Bridget Jone's Pumpkin Diary" We like the way she painstakingly recorded her success.

Best Horror Flick:

  • Crouching Beetle, Hidden Squash Bug Two pumpkin growers are faced with their greatest challenge when the secret orange insecticide is stolen just before planting time. This could be the horror story to beat all horror stories.

Honorable Mention:

  • Lord of the Dill Rings

Science Fiction:

  • Orange Planet A group of astronauts, charged with saving a dying Earth, makes the first expedition to Mars, hoping to grow pumpkins on it. But a massive solar flare cripples the Mars space carrier and isolates the crew in a barren wasteland without enough water or fertilizer. (at least they won't need the bug spray!)
  • Final Fantasy: The Seeds Within In the year 2065, a meteor crashes into Earth, unleashing millions of seeds around the planet. A planet covered with pumpkin vines is a nightmare scenario, even to the most fanatic pumpkin grower.

Honorable Mention:

  • Pumpkin Park III

Best Comedy Film:

  • Evolution This comedy follows the chaos that ensues when a giant meteor carrying alien green pumpkins hits the Earth, giving a new meaning to the term "Survival of the fittest". There are only four growers standing between alien green pumpkins and world domination at the weighoffs.

Best Animated Feature Film:

  • Monsters, Inc. A company runs amok, producing huge green squash, errr pumpkins.

Honorable Mention:

  • Fifty Percent Green
